Undergraduate studies
The main emphasis in the three-year full-time undergraduate programme is on historical and theoretical subjects, as well as ethnomusicology, anthropology and music aesthetics. The curriculum is complemented by general education subjects (e.g. philosophy, logic, foreign language classes), optional classes (e.g. in related disciplines or with an interdisciplinary profile), and subjects associated with the selected field of interest (proseminar and seminar) and the preparation of a bachelor’s thesis. A graduate of the first-cycle programme is a well-qualified specialist in musicology, combining thorough and comprehensive theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Depending on the choice of the course of study and the specific subject of interest and specialisation (pursued in year three of the bachelor’s degree programme), musicology graduates can find jobs in music publishing, the media, phonography and all kinds of institutions involved in the organisation of musical life.
