dr hab. Irena Bieńkowska, associate professor

She completed her studies at the Institute of Musicology, University of Warsaw (1994), with a master’s degree granted on the basis of the thesis “Musical culture at the court of Michał Kazimierz Radziwiłł ‘Rybeńka’ (1702–1762) in Nesvizh”, written under the supervision of Prof. Mirosław Perz. In 1994–1998 she completed a doctoral programme at the Institute, obtaining a PhD in 1999 on the basis of the thesis “The music of Giovanni Battista Cocciola”. Since 2000 she has worked as assistant professor at the History of Polish Music Unit, Institute of Musicology, University of Warsaw.

Her research interests encompass the history of medieval and Renaissance music, history of Polish music in the sixteenth–eighteenth centuries as well as history of musical patronage on the eastern frontiers of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the seventeenth–eighteenth centuries. She has published a book Muzyka na dworze księcia Hieronima Floriana Radziwiłła (Warsaw 2013).
