She completed her studies at the Academy of Catholic Theology (master’s thesis: “Native American sources of Catholic music in Central Andes. On the basis of 19 pieces recorded during a Mass in Llallagua (Bolivia)”, 1983). Since 1985 she has been working at the Institute of Musicology, University of Warsaw. The title of her doctoral thesis (Faculty of History, University of Warsaw, 1992) was “Musical culture of the Inca metropolis. The role of Spanish chronicles of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in the ethnomusicology of the Andes”. She obtained her post-doctoral degree on the basis of the thesis “The ritual of sound. Music in the Nasca culture” (Faculty of History, University of Warsaw, 2005).

She specialises in the anthropology of music and American studies, carrying out ethnomusicological, historical and archeomusicological research in Peru, Ecuator and Bolivia.
