dr Agnieszka Chwiłek

Graduate of the Institute of Musicology, University of Warsaw (master’s thesis: “Fugues in Karol Szymanowski’s oeuvre”, written under the supervision of Prof. dr hab. Zofia Helman). In 1994–2002 she was an assistant lecturer at the Music Theory and Aesthetics Unit of the Institute of Musicology. In 2002 she submitted a doctoral thesis, “Robert Schumann’s piano cycles. The aesthetic idea of unity and its technical implementation”, also written under the supervision of Prof. dr hab. Zofia Helman. She specialises in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century music, and analysis of musical works. Her research interests focus on the oeuvres of Robert Schumann, Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, as well as Polish and European piano and chamber music in the nineteenth century.
