The title of her doctoral dissertation was \u201cIntroduction of the viol into sixteenth-century France: perspectives on the cultural integration of musical instruments\u201d (https:\/\/era.ed .ac.uk\/handle\/1842\/17977). In October 2021 Emily Peppers, PhD, joined the staff of the Institute of Musicology. Under the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships programme (2021\u20132026) she is currently working on a research project entitled \u201cMusical Materialities and Conduits of Culture: revealing the hidden histories of music during Poland\u2019s \u2018Golden Age\u2019 (c. 1475\u20131600)\u201d. The innovative nature of the project lies in the use of digital technologies, in particular coding analysis and optical character recognition software for archival research.<br \/>\nEmily Peppers\u2019 research interests relate to musical instruments, material musical culture, history of art and cultural transfer. The scholar has almost twenty years\u2019 experience as a museum and heritage specialist in Scotland (independent consultancy positions).
